Looking after your tyres

Running and maintaining a car can be expensive and tyres are something that many of us have had to fork out on over time. A good set of front tyres should last about 20,000 miles on a front wheel drive car and even longer on the back.

You have some choices to make when it comes to tyres. If you are looking for tyres that will last the longest then you probably want to go for hard compound tyres although they will be noisier than soft compound tyres.

There are many reasons why your tyres may be wearing quicker than you like such as driving style. If you corner aggressively and brake excessively you are bound to wear out your tyres quicker. The quicker you drive, the higher the tyre temperature and therefore increase in wear you will also see an increase if you carry a lot of weight in the vehicle.
