Car insurance – things to check

Car insurance is often one of those things that we all hate sorting out. You have to make sure you get everything right as one small error and you could find yourself uninsured and people often only realise this when they have been involved in an accident and it is too late.

Before your renewal is due, you should shop around for different prices. Insurance companies tend to offer you the same or possibly an even higher price year on year without you having made a claim or had extra points put on your licence. There are a number of good comparison websites out there that will search a large number of lenders for you. Once the results are displayed you can very easily compare the policies to see what you are getting from your money. Often it will show the compulsory and voluntary excess you would have to pay should you make a claim, if breakdown cover, legal fees, courtesy car and key cover are included. You may, for example already have breakdown cover with someone else, if that is the case you can select a cheaper policy that doesn’t include breakdown. Policies are cheaper if paid annually but most offer a monthly payment plan.
