Often when you take your car in to a garage for repairs, MOT’s of serving you will be presented with a list of other work that may need doing to the vehicle. Some garages do this purely to try and up sell other work and some do it as standard practice to inform you without trying to get you to agree to additional work there and then.
My advice would be if you are presented with additional work to be carried out to your car that you take the list away with you. You can then take the vehicle to another garage or mechanic and ask them to confirm if it is correct. If the work is required then you can start to obtain quotes from a number of repairs to find the best price. This can save you potentially hundreds of pounds and so is well worth doing. You may even want the garage to point out the repairs (if possible) to you or ask to see the parts they removed.
