Are you prepared for the winter weather?

The weather certainly has dropped a lot colder over the last few weeks and although most of us are yet to see some snow, we certainly have had plenty of rain.

It is very important to ensure that your car is set for winter to ensure that you and your passengers are safe when travelling. Many garages will offer you a free winter check, but you need to be prepared to do any recommendations they tell you about. Often these free winter checks include them looking at the condition, tread and inflation of all tyres, including a sore if you have one. Tyres have a massive impact on the safety of the vehicle and affect stopping distances, so it makes sense that this is one of the first things they check. Brakes are another important safety feature that should be checked. An MOT will often only tell you if your brakes passed or failed, they won’t look in to how worn they are or corroded. So even if you have recently had an MOT, the brakes can still be on their way out. Keeping a blanket, bottle of water and some snacks, a torch and a shovel in the boot of your car is always a good idea in winter.
