Are your garage doors causing issues?

If you own a classic car that is valuable you will be very aware of the need to take care of the paint work and general bodywork of the vehicle. Any deterioration due to the car being exposed to the elements may devalue the vehicle considerably. It is for this reason that classic car owners usually keep their automobile investment in a garage but some garages, and in particular the garage doors can cause issues.

The commonplace up and over garage doors which are fitted to most new properties have to have metal mechanisms at the sides of the garage which are attached to the wall. This reduces the useable width of the garage which can cause problems if the classic car is one of the wider American models. It would be necessary to have a garage with a wider opening and therefore a wider up and over garage door. Electric garage doors would present similar problems for classic car owners but actually assume even more room.

The more traditional side opening garage doors would be much more suitable on a garage used to store a classic car as the doors can be opened wide and have no mechanisms to damage the car as it is being driven into or out of the garage.
