DIY repairs

Car repairs can be a huge expense for motorists. Not only mechanical but also bodywork repairs can cost hundreds of pounds a year and are often needed to maintain or even to sell the car.

There are some repairs that should always be carried out by a qualified mechanic but for the smaller jobs, you may be surprised at how easy it is to do it yourself.

Some people take their car in to the garage for every little thing, even to change a light bulb. This may only cost then £10 – £20 but add this up a few times a year and you are quickly adding to your annual motoring costs. YouTube is a great place to watch tutorials on how to carry out DIY repairs to your vehicle, watch a few and then why not give it a go.

Wiper blades are another consumable that are easy to change once you know how. After recently purchasing some for just under £5, I was presently surprised to find that I could fit them myself in under 2 mins, thus saving about £30 that the garage was going to charge me to supply and fit the blades.
