Tesla is well known for its electric cars and renewable power but the recent addition to their automobile line up is said to reach out to a wider audience. This month, Elon Musk who set up PayPal and runs SpaceX along with Tesla, showed off the new Tesla Model Y car to an audience in Los Angeles. The Model Y is based on the Model 3 but Elon Musk claims it is the most spacious, nimble and safest car in its class.
The Tesla Model Y is due to go on sale in the United States in autumn 2020 with the EU still awaiting a delivery date. They have improved the battery giving it better miles per charge compared to the Model 3 but this may come at a slightly higher price. In the US the standard range will start from around thirty-nine thousand dollars capable of doing around 230 miles on a full charge.
Some people think electric cars cannot be quick but with the Tesla Model Y reaching 60 miles per hour in under 6 seconds, it certainly rivals many. If you fancy going all out then you may want to invest your money in the top of the range performance version which will cost around sixty thousand dollars but does 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds.
