Trying to improve your fuel economy

Cars can be expensive to run, so you need to try and save money wherever you can. Fuel is one way in which you can cut down your running costs and there are a number of ways in which you can try and ensure you are using your vehicle as economically as possible.

Many of us have to put fuel in on a weekly or even daily basis depending on the mileage you have to do. This can very quickly add up, especially when fuel prices are high.

Fuel prices vary drastically from time to time and even from garage to garage so it pays to do your research to find out where the best place is to top up. You may be used to just going to the nearest garage but if you check around you will often find supermarkets for example, are often quite a few pence cheaper per litre. Now that may not sound a lot but over time it really can add up and you may notice that it costs you a few pounds more to fill up.

Motorway service stations are renowned for high fuel prices and therefore you should only ever use these if you are in need of fuel urgently. Even diverting off the motorway just a few miles will often mean you can find a petrol station that is cheaper.
