Tyres have a number of different ratings and sizes on them and it can be confusing to find out exactly which ones you need. The main reading is the size. The tyres have 3 sizes on them such as 105/55/15 the first number is the width of the tyre in millimetres. The second is the aspect ratio or tyre profile. The last is the diameter of the wheel rim in inches. You may then have a number and a letter. The number relates to the load rating and the letter relates to the speed rating which says the maximum speed that should be driven on those tyres.
If you have a van of a vehicle that carries a lot of weight then you should be aware of the load rating aspect. The load rating states the maximum weight each tyre should carry. 91, for example, is about the right load for 2 to two and a half ton of weight loads.
If you do not use the correct tyres for the weight you are carrying then you may invalidate your insurance. You will probably notice that the vehicle does not handle as it should too. You can check the handbook of your vehicle to find out the load rating of the tyres that you need to fit.
